About the workshop

Scaling quantum computing by connecting machines, not just building bigger ones

The path to large-scale quantum computing increasingly relies on interconnecting multiple quantum systems into distributed architectures. This workshop moves from foundations, to the emerging ecosystem, to hands-on experimentation — in three focused sessions.

01

Foundations & challenges

Why DQC matters now: entanglement distribution, cross-node gate execution, latency, compilation and orchestration — and what actually stands in the way of scale.

02

Alliances & ecosystem

How new industry alliances combine quantum hardware, networking, quantum memory and systems expertise on the path toward practical quantum advantage.

03

Sandboxes & experimentation

Experimental platforms that integrate quantum, HPC and generative AI to support end-to-end distributed quantum–classical workflows.

Topics

    Who should attend

Quantum computing researchers, systems and software engineers, HPC practitioners, application scientists, and industry innovators interested in quantum architectures — along with students and educators from national labs, startups and technology companies. The workshop is highly interactive, mixing invited talks with substantial discussion.

    Program

    Three sessions, one day

    · · , . Invited talks run 20+2 minutes; the four papers accepted to the workshop track are presented as 10+2 minute short talks and appear in the QCE26 proceedings.

The official conference listing is on the QCE26 workshop schedule.

    Speakers

    Confirmed speakers

Invited speakers and paper presenters from industry, academia and national labs.

      Organizers

      Who is behind DQC 2026

Organized by the Quantum Software Consortium — an NSERC Alliance consortium exploring distributed quantum solutions for Canada — together with IBM Quantum.
